Pocket Circuit

You can play Pocket Circuit when you go to the location on the map above in Chapter 2.

When you speak to Pocket Circuit Fighter, you get a number of choices:

Compete in a Tournament
Take your car on a test run
Customise cars
Create a race course
Race with Pocket Circuit Fighter
(after you defeat him for the first time)

Pocket Circuit Fighter gives you some parts when you speak to him for the first time and are introduced to the racing (see Substory 50).

As you win races, more parts become available to buy at the parts shop.

==CAR STABILISING==

Mashing the Circle button when it tells you to will help stabilise your car, however it's important to point out that you do not HAVE to mash Circle (and use up your gauge at the top left) every time - there are some occasions when your car will be fine even if you never press Circle once. When it looks like the car isn't going to fly off, then you don't need to worry and can save your gauge. When it looks like the car might fly off then mash that Circle button until it looks like it'll be fine again. You'll get used to knowing when you can and cannot do it through practice.

==CAR MODELS==

The setups will work for all race car models, so just use whichever one you like most. The different car models don't have different pros and cons and are just there for variation - I have done a lot of testing and I get the exact same results (when using the specific setups listed below) regardless of what car I use, so don't worry about "what car should I use?" because it doesn't make any difference.

My Preferred Setup

See "Parts" section for information on how to get the parts.

This setup is a bit overkill. You will completely annihilate the other racers, which is always fun. You will lap the other racers (see results pic below) so they won't even finish the race.

You won't need to use boost at all with this setup.

Alternate Setup

See "Parts" section for information on how to get the parts.

You can use this setup to win if you don't want to annihilate the opponents or don't feel like doing Substory 8 to get the Refined High Torque Motor.

You will need to use Boost on the final lap (do it as soon as the final lap starts) with this setup.

You will need to use both your boosts with this setup. Use one as soon as lap 5 starts and the other as soon as lap 10 starts. Watch out when you use boost though because you'll need to mash Circle to stabilise the car.

Use this setup if you haven't managed to get hold of the Basic Swift Gear.

By this point, you really do need a motor like the Refined High Torque Motor, so if you still don't have that go and get it now - these other motors you get from the parts shop are just shit and will make it harder to win.

Watch out, because you will need to mash Circle to stabilise the car quite a few times. But don't get too carried away with mashing on corners - just press it enough so that the car won't fly off the track (you don't want to use up all your gauge!). I have tested on every starting lane multiple times and as long as you don't get too carried away with using up your gauge you can always stay on the track.

Sometimes there will be a bit on the 2nd lap when you nearly fly off the track after the jump (doesn't happen every time), but I've tested it multiple times and you can almost always stay on the track with Circle. Rarely, you won't be able to keep your car on the track - just try again if that happens.

Also, sometimes the car turns on its side (seems to happen very rarely - most commonly if you start on the yellow lane), but I've tested it and mashing the Circle button here will get it back on track.

You won't need to use boost at all with this setup.

This race does require luck - because of the random factor, sometimes you'll breeze through the race no problem and other times you'll fly off the track for seemingly no reason. You might get unlucky and fall off the track a few times in a row, but this setup definitely wins when luck is on your side.

Alternate Setup

See "Parts" section for information on how to get the parts.

This setup has a lot less "risk" compared to my other setup (you're less likely to fly off the track). It's not as fast as the first setup, but it will still get you a fairly comfortable win. So if you don't want to worry about being careful with using the stabilising gauge, or are having trouble staying on the track with the above setup, use this setup instead. Though, rarely, the car will fly off the tracks after one of the corners. If this happens, just re-do the race.

Having said that, sometimes within the first few laps there will be a bit where you randomly go flying after the first corner, and sometimes the car goes on its side, but you can usually stay on the track on both occasions with Circle. Other than that, there's nothing to worry about.

You won't need to use boost at all with this setup.

Alternate Setup

There's no need for an alternate setup for this track - The above setup is easy to obtain (don't need to get any of the parts from dream machines)

My Preferred Setup

See "Parts" section for information on how to get the parts.

This setup will get you the win and it doesn't require any parts from dream machines, which is nice!

It will probably ask you to mash Circle to stabilise the car quite a few times but most of the time just a few taps of the button will be enough to keep the car on track, so don't get carried away with mashing Circle so you don't needlessly use up all your gauge! Of course, when you need to mash it (when it's obvious the car is going), then do so, but be careful not to overuse the gauge in other situations.

You will need to use both your boosts. Use one on the 6th lap and one on the 11th lap (both times do them right after landing the jump after the first corner - if you do it before the jump you'll risk flying across the room).

It's important to point out that this race does require a certain amount of luck as well... I've played on all starting lanes multiple times and sometimes it's fine and you can win easily enough and other times the car goes off the track. It seems completely random. In some of my runs I never had to press Circle once, yet other times I'd have to do it loads of times. So if your car goes off the track, don't worry - just try again and hopefully luck will be on your side next time. From my experience though, you're more likely to win than go off the track. In my experience, it seems the Red Lane is the easiest starting lane to get the win on, but it could just be coincidence.
