Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin (released in Japan in February 2014) is a spin-off game set at the end of the Edo period of Japanese history (known as the Bakumatsu period), a period when the Tokugawa Shogunate came to an end and imperial rule was restored (Meiji Restoration).
Sakamoto Ryoma is living undercover, with a false identity, as "Saito Hajime" in Kyoto. One year earlier, on the eve of the coup d'état of Tosa, Ryoma's foster father, the man who raised him, was murdered before his eyes. The only lead he had to discover who the killer was is that he used the Tennen Rishin style of fighting. This is a style used by the Shinsengumi, so Ryoma infiltrates their ranks, becoming captain of the 3rd Shinsengumi unit, in attempt to find the killer.

ARENA
You can participate in the arena in Mukurogai any time after arriving there in Chapter 2.
Talk to the guy at reception and he'll register you for the arena. Talk to him again to bring up the arena menu.
The top option fights in the arena
The 2nd option is the gift exchange (you can exchange the "Fighting Orbs" you gain in the arena here for items)
The 3rd option shows you a screen of the arena opponents (including your win/loss record against them and the items you can get from them)
The 4th option shows you the rules
The 5th option exits out of the screen
When you select to fight in the arena, you get 2 options: You can either fight in a knockout tournament (like the tournaments in previous games in the series) or you can fight in the "100 Man Killing" mode (where you continuously fight enemies until you either lose all your health or beat 100 guys). In this mode, the number of enemies you defeat determines your reward:
Enemies Defeated
Prize Money
Fighting Orbs
25-49
5000 Mon
500
50-74
1 Ryo
1000
75-99

In addition, you can get a multiplier bonus which boosts the amount of fighting orbs you receive. The multiplier size depends on how many "points" you have when you finish this mode.
Points Needed [Multiplier] - 90+ [x3] / 75-89 [x2] / 60-69 [x1.5] / 50-59 [x1.2] / 49 or less [x1]
Below is information on how you get points:
Completion Time - 7:01 or longer [10 points] / 6:01-7:00 [15 points] / 6:00 or under [25 points]
Remaining Health - 69% or less [10 points] / 70-79% [15 points] / 80% or more [25 points]
