Rewards
When you first play the game, you have the ability to choose between 3 difficulty settings: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. See the table to see the differences between difficulty settings. Intermediate can be seen as the "standard" difficulty setting. Below you will see a table which shows the rewards you get for completing each difficulty setting. Completing the game on advanced mode will unlock the expect mode. In this mode, there are no continues and the rate at which your heat gauge decreases doubles.

New Game Modes
After completing the game (on any difficulty), you unlock two new game modes. The "Kyoto Tour" (Premium Adventure Mode) allows you to enjoy the game without worrying about the main story. This includes the ability to enjoy the substories, without worrying about chapter-specific restrictions you get during the main story. You also unlock the "Ultimate Challenge" mode. Here, you play many different challenge battles.
In Premium Adventure, your level, money, items, equipment, and such will all carry over from your save (i.e. what you had when you completed the game will continue with you to the premium adventure). However, things like techniques/abilities and heat actions don't carry over, so you'll need to re-learn them. A word of warning - it is not possible to get 100% completion on everything in this mode. This is because there are certain heat actions that can only be used against specific bosses during the main story. They cannot be faught in premium adventure mode so you cannot get 100% heat actions. You must perform all those heat actions during the main story in order to get 100% in this.
Kyoto Tour
In this post-game mode, you can load up your completed saved to continue enjoying the game without worrying about the main story. You can freely enjoy the requests, commissions, bounties, as well as the mini-games in this mode. In this mode you can freely change the time of day by speaking to either Ageha (Yoshino Tayu) or Koetsu.
Ultimate Challenge
This is a battle challenge mode consisting of different challenge sections. At first you have access to: Melee Challenges, Showdown Challenges, and Trial Challenges. In some challenges you have large numbers of enemies to defeat, in others you are required to defeat a boss using a specific weapon, etc. The "Reincarnation Challenges" are unlocked as you beat other sections. The first "Ultimate Challenge" is unlocked when you beat all the challenges for Melee, Showdown and Trial.
